1. Overall Goal

The overarching goal of the OroLingo initiative is to improve learning outcomes, exam preparedness, and school retention for vulnerable Ethiopian students by providing a scalable, inclusive, curriculum-aligned digital platform integrating exam practice and tutorial learning support.

3. Project Activities & Methodology

OroLingo adopts a holistic approach combining technology-based exam practice, curriculum-aligned tutorials, teacher capacity-building, mentorship for girls, and community engagement.

3.1 Digital Learning Rollout

  • Grades 9–12 coverage, 20 exams per subject, 100+ MCQs each.
  • Exam mode (timed), practice mode, automatic scoring, unique question banks.

3.2 Offline Access Development

  • Offline app for exams and tutorials.
  • Collaboration with telecoms for data bundles.
  • Offline servers in schools; teacher training.

3.3 Tutorial Development

  • Video, audio, and text tutorials in 3 languages.
  • Pilot 5,000 students; refine content from feedback.

3.4 Teacher Training

  • Train 300 teachers; training-of-trainers, peer networks, refresher courses.

3.5 Gender & Equity Focus

  • Mentorship for 1,000 girls.
  • Safe after-school spaces and awareness campaigns.
  • Gender-sensitive content in STEM.
